Trump Indictment

Back to Blog

Any person who states that indicting a former President of the United States on a groundless criminal charge is profoundly damaging to what is left of the institutions and principles of the nation.

Let me be clear that I am not a Trump apologist. I was never enthusiastic about him, and I have come to dislike him very much. I voted for him 50% of the time in national elections. In my opinion, many, but not all, of his policies as President were politically, economically and culturally sound. He accomplished some very good things, for example the Abraham Accords, increased border security, and economic progress.

However, he is only average for a president in terms of honesty. He is an egomaniac. His name calling is crude, immature, wildly inappropriate for a head of state, inconsistent with minimum standards of civility and indicative of a deeply flawed personality. Most important is that if he is nominated by the GOP to run for President again, he is virtually certain to lose, putting the next iteration of woke Marxists in office. If he were elected, the national descent into chaos would be dramatically accelerated. There are several better choices for the GOP nominee.

Nevertheless, indicting a former President of the United States on a groundless criminal charge is profoundly damaging to what is left of the institutions and principles of the nation. It is so irresponsible that it cannot be explained absent an unarticulated nefarious objective. (I will address the probable objective in a separate post.) Fantasizing about incarcerating, humiliating, destroying (politically or physically) a political enemy is comprehensible. Acting out those fantasies is reprehensible.

The current regime at Enemy Headquarters (Washington DC) is astonishingly, dangerously incompetent and dishonest, even by the pathetically low standards of the US political class. No matter how low the limbo stick, they easily slither under it. The indictment was brought by a New York state prosecutor, but it is difficult to imagine that a call from the White House would have gone unheeded. Therefore, the current occupant is implicated. Anyone who suggests that the current President is capable of understanding, let alone acting in the best interests of, America is lying . . . etc.
